7 Quick Takes Friday

1.  Listening to the birds through the open window tweeting away, are they updating their status’?
2.  The wind is rustling the curtains blowing a cool breeze through the house.
3.  Hearing the sound of girl laughter now that Dance team is over until May and the girls are home earlier and bringing friends over.
4.  Nothing like a good run to get your morning energized.
5. Really enjoyed watching the midnight showing of The Hunger Games with my oldest and 6 other teens.  Lots of giggling, clapping and crying!
6.  Ran and finished a 1/2 marathon this past Saturday.
7.  So grateful for family and friends who supported me before and after the race!

7 Quick Takes Friday

1.  So excited to be running the Rock and Roll 1/2 marathon tomorrow. 
2.  Picket up packet at the EXPO and had so much fun!
3.  Purchased a pink hat to go with the pink running skirt I will be wearing.
4.  A pink little bag that will hold cellphone.  It can attach to the water belt I will be wearing.
5.  Whished I had taken pictures.  I plan on taking pictures tomorrow to share with you all.
6.  Pray for me! That I don’t get injured, run well, finish, and aren’t too sore afterwards!!
7.  Help me meet my goal!  Raising money for Girls on the Run.  Here is a previous post about Girls on the Run.  Check it out.

7 Quick Takes Friday: What I learned while chaperoning 21 teens!

This past week I was lucky enough to be able to chaperone the West Springfield Dance Team during the NDA Dance competition in Orlando.

1. WSDT teens are really good kids!
2. 21 teens now call me MOM!
3. WSDT teens are hard working!
4. WSDT teens LOVE to eat…..at all hours of the day and night!
5. WSDT teens LOVE to sleep!
6. WSDT teens care about each other.
7. WSDT won the National Hip Hop Championship, with the highest score in all of UDA dance competition history!!!!!

7 Quick Takes Friday-On my run. (#17)

This is what happened to me on my run today:

1. Saw an albino squirrel!  Now, I’ve seen black and brown squirrels but never a pure white one.
2. Daffodils are in bloom, and it’s only February!
3. The battery on the ishuffle died on mile 6!
4. Prayed a decade of the rosary.
5. Tried keeping negative thoughts at bay….my feet hurt….my knees ache!
6. Love the challenge of completed a long run.  Ran/walked/ran 10 miles today

On another note.  The WSDT is heading to Orlando for a Nationals competition.  I’m going as a chaperone and I’m told by MY girls that I’m not allowed to talk to them or go in their room….yeah, RIGHT!  But seriously, pray that the team makes it there and back safe and sound; that they do well on the competition; and still remain friends after spending six days together!

7 Quick takes Friday Bad Thing/Good Thing

1.  Bad thing: Listening to commercials on Pandora radio.  Good thing:  Finding new music!

2.  Bad thing: Temperatures in the low 40’s on my day off when it was in the 60’s when I worked.  Good thing:  Clear blue skies!

3.  Bad thing: Getting woken up by the girls asking for a ride to school when it’s not even raining/snowing outside! Good thing:  Precious few minutes of girl talk in the car.

4.   Bad thing:  Getting measured at the gym for contest and learning you’ve gained an inch.  Good thing:  Rowing three miles on the rowing machine and feeling GREAT!

5.  Bad thing:  Finding we are out of dishwasher detergent after filling up the dishwasher with dirty dishes.  Good thing:  Coming home after a 12 hour shift finding that The Big Guy, who was home with a bad cold, went and bought detergent and started the dishwasher!

6.  Bad thing:  High census on the unit and working with an RN I’ve never worked with.  Good thing:  Meeting a new friend!

7.  Finding ways to turn the bad into good….AWESOME!

7 Quick Takes (#14)

1.  Thinking about what to write today during this mornings storm…dark clouds, thunder and an intermittent torrential downpour with temperatures in the 60’s F. Now the sun is shining, the sky is blue, but the wind is blowing and temperatures are set to drop to the low 30’s F.
2.  Things to do on a rainy day
3.  Sew pieces of fabric together.  Working on the Made by Cherry quilt along
4.  Read a good book. Reading Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
5.  Go to Starbuck’s and catch up with old friends.
6.  Sit on the sofa with a cuddly blanket and watch a TV show that I’ve DVR’d.  One of my favorites is Southland, a police drama set in Los Angeles.
7.  Enjoy a warm cup of tea!

7 Quick Takes Friday (#13)

1.  Thermostat today said that it was 40F outside.
2.  I should have checked what the temperature actually was taking into account the wind chill!
3.  I think it was more like 20F.
4.  10-mile run was a little chilly today. 
5.   My bum was frozen. 
6.   Is there such a thing as bum warmers??!! Or padded running tights??!!
7.   Otherwise made great time on my run…yeah for me!
P.S.  Please pray from my friend S.  Her Dad has a brain tumor, all treatment has been exhausted and he is going to Hospice care.

7 Quick Takes Friday (#12)

1.  Overwhelmed with Thanksgiving…prayers ARE powerful!

2.  Do you remember my friend K?  I know I’ve written about her and asked for your prayers.

3.  I had coffee with her at Panera’s and she is doing fantastic! 

4.  She had a liver transplant about six months ago.  Six months ago she was walking around with an oxygen tank, her lips were blue and she had a grey look about her.

5.  Today she has a sparkle in her eyes, her cheeks are pink, and she doesn’t travel with an oxygen tank.  I couldn’t stop looking at her!

6.  I should have taken a picture but I was just so amazed at how AWSOME she looks!

7.  I’m so thankful that she will be around to keep me in stitches…..Thank You Lord!!

7 Quick Takes Friday (#11)

1.  My sleep schedule is waaaay off. Not sleeping well at night.  Having to get up to go to the bathroom, hot, and the Big Guy snores.  Going to bed at my normal time 10pm, getting up several times during the night, taking a melatonin to bring on sleep, finally falling asleep, but not getting up until about 9am.  The girls think I ‘stink’ because I’m not getting up early to drive them to school.
2.  So far so good on praying a decade of the Rosary daily.  I’m using this great little book and it’s helping me stay focused.
3.  V might be allergic to apples.  Apples?  Yes, really!  Took her to the Dr. yesterday and they drew blood and we will find out by next week if it is a true allergy. Her mouth gets ‘tingly’ and her stomach hurts after eating them.  We had her tested when she was little and the skin test showed an allergy to peanuts.  She eats peanut butter every day and has never had a reaction…weird.
4.  Is it really winter?  The weather is gorgeous, blue skies and temperatures in the mid 40’s to 50’s!
5.  I went for a walk and saw all these Christmas trees on the curb waiting to be picked up by the garbage men…it made me sad.  The trees still looked healthy and green.  Our tree is still up, we won’t take it down until the end of January, beginning of February.  (I think I’ve already written about this in a previous quick take..oh well!!??
6.  Learning HTML code and I get it!  Having fun learning it as well.  Maybe programming is my next career?!
7.  Enjoying the peace and quiet!  Girls are back to school and the Big Guy is back at work.  I miss their presence.
